While crucified on the Cross, Jesus entrusted us to His Mother and that day we became her children. In fact, while dying Jesus said to Saint John the disciple, representing all of us: “Behold, your mother” (John 19: 26).
In Bethlehem’s cave she delivered Jesus without pain. But at the foot the cross she delivered each one of us with all the pain and suffering of Jesus’ Passion and Death. This is why we remember her as Our Lady of Sorrows.
Ever since, we are children of the most beautiful creature and most powerful human being. She is vessel of honor and refuge of sinners.
And She came to rescue humanity from the snares of the Devil. Oh, beautiful gift!
Jesus gave us this most wonderful present. And what did we do to deserve such gift? Nothing. It was out of all-embracing and all-pure love that Jesus shared His Mother with us.
And what a Mother! We can trust her for our protection from the snares of the devil. We can count on her guidance on our way to Heaven. And She will advocate for our salvation before the Throne of the Most High.
Trusting in her guidance even in difficult times and following her example we shall reach eternal salvation.
Let’s point out that on that day She also became the Mother of the Church. And although the Church is formed by all us, we must trust that the Church of Jesus is Jesus’, and not the church of men.
We will never be worthy of such a Mother. So let us fall on our knees in complete gratitude and humble adoration to her Son.
We could also ask Saint John to teach us to love and trust our Lord and also to love and trust the Blessed Virgin Mary, our Mother.
Lord Jesus Christ, please give us the graces
to love You and your Mother
like your beloved disciple did, to believe like him
and to be faithful from now and ever more.
