Two Hearts United

Two Hearts united. Two Feasts one after the other: the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on Friday and the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on Saturday.

What does the Sacred Heart of Jesus symbolize? The Heart of Jesus is the vital center of His immense and infinite Love for us. It is the expression of His surrender and His total Love for humanity: “Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end” (John 13:1).

But the Heart of Jesus is a painful heart. So He Himself expressed to Saint Margaret Mary of Alacoque, explaining how painful was our attitude towards Him.

“I have so much loved you”, He said. “And what was most painful in My Passion was your disdain and ingratitude”. As He loves us so very much, He longs to be reciprocated.

To love Jesus is to trust in Him. To trust in Him is to accept His Will always. And God’s Will for us is the best, because it flows directly from His Infinite Love as shown in His Sacred Heart.

In His apparitions to Saint Margaret Mary, Jesus left us a wonderful devotion: Communion the Nine First Fridays of each month. And He promised that those who received Communion during Nine First Fridays consecutively without interruption, would receive the grace of final perseverance, that is, eternal salvation.

The Immaculate Heart of Mary contains all of Jesus’ Love and both are united inseparably.

Through the Apparitions of Our Most Blessed Virgin Mary in Fatima, God wished to establish for our time the devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. And He wishes that the Heart of Jesus be venerated together with Mary’s Heart.

Sister Lucy of Fatima says that the Rosary and the devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary are the last resources that God has granted the world for the final days.

As part of this devotion, Our Lady asked for Holy Communion Five First Fridays of each month consecutively without interruption, together with the Holy Rosary, meditating its Mysteries, with the intention of reparation for the offenses against God.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I trust in You.

Immaculate Heart of Mary,

be the refuge of my soul.
