A Glimpse of My Love

God, our father, is pure love.

But what is that? We have heard many descriptions of love. Poets have written verses, songwriters have composed songs about love. But can we feel it? We learn from the Bible that … “Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, is not pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury, it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” (Corinthians 13: 4-7)

None of us humans are capable of loving with a pure Love like our Father from heaven loves us. In the last article, made in heaven, we had a beautiful description of what that Love could be.

We often have heard that our children are a gift from God, but they are not really our children nor our possession. We feel a “especial” connection with our children and God lets us feel a tiny piece of the love that He has for us when He shares that moment of creation with us, that moment made in heaven.

But just like sin disrupts our relationship with Him, and He suffers for us, we also experience many times with our children the same disruption. We suffer when we see them making the wrong decisions, when life takes them in the wrong path, or simply because they reject our love. In the same manner, God suffers for us but in His case with a perfect Love.

When we have children, we must certainly give thanks to our Father for the blessings of the good times. However, we also must give thanks when He allows us to share with Him the sufferings of our children.

We can imagine God telling us… “My dearest child, I love you with an eternal Love, a Love that will give everything for you, even until death. I want you to feel at least a little of the Love that I have for you. I will give you a gift, a gift made in heaven. Love the gift as I love you, teach my ways and when you hurt because of it, keep loving him or her even more. And then you might start to have a glimpse of My Love for you”.
